FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between Premium and HomeStyle Formulas?

Premium Formula includes all the added supplements required by the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) to meet regulated nutrition standards for Dog Food. Canine Correct's all-natural supplements are included in the Premium Dog Food and are listed in its ingredients.
HomeStyle Formula - Some dogs may be sensitive to the added supplements in our Premium Dog Food, so Canine Correct developed our HomeStyle formula, which has all the nutritional value but without the addition of the extra supplements. HomeStyle Formula also includes Potatoes and Sweet Potatoes. If your dog has a sensitive stomach or is experiencing allergy and skin problems, we recommend HomeStyle Formula.

2. How do I transition my dog to Canine Correct?
Transitioning is easy. We recommend a 3 to 4 day transition period. Start with preparing a small portion of Canine Correct and adding it to your dog's current food. Then every day increase the amount of Canine Correct while decreasing the old food until the full portion has been reached.

3. How often should I feed my pet?

For adult dogs we recommend feeding your dog twice a day. For puppies we recommend feeding 3 to 4 times a day.

4. Can I mix Canine Correct with other foods?

Canine Correct can definitely be mixed with other dog food. You will not get the full benefit, but some Canine Correct is better than none!

5. What's the best way to store Canine Correct?
Though Canine Correct Freeze-Dried Dog Food is a shelf-stable product, the length of time you wish to store it may vary. In order to maintain freshness, we recommend you store Canine Correct in cool, dry conditions away from direct sunlight. For longer storage we recommend storing it frozen.

6. How long will Canine Correct last on the shelf?
If stored properly (see above), a bag of Canine Correct Table Food for Dogs should last 3 months. If stored in the freezer it will last for years.

7. How many Canine Correct Protein Snacks are too many to treat?
Without a doubt Canine Correct Protein Snacks are the most palatable and healthy treat on the market. However, we recommend that you treat your dog SPARINGLY, especially small breeds. A balanced diet is what is most important for the overall good health of your dog. Treats should be used as a reward in training exercises and as reinforcement for 'good behavior' when responding to a specific task.

8. Can I feed Canine Correct to my Cat?
We do NOT recommend feeding Canine Correct Dog Food formulas to cats. Cats have very specific dietary needs. We have created a specific cat food formula under the label Feline Correct that is available at many of our veterinary and retail locations as well as our manufacturing facility. We are currently working on making it available for purchase on our website.

9. Raw vs Cooked/Baked Diet?
Cooked food is more digestible than raw food. Your pet will get more benefit from cooked foods because cooking unlocks the food's nutritional value. Carnivores have very acidic stomachs for that very reason. The acid acts like "cooking." By cooking our food, we start that process. This allows your pet easier digestion and better absorption of nutrients. Cooking makes Canine Correct a safer product by eliminating the possibility of contamination by pathogens like Salmonella and E.coli.
